Where to secure part of LH door lock assembly?

Post by gwb72tii »

I think this is a relay (?), part of the lock warming circuit? I need to secure it so it's not flopping around inside the door. My body shop guy took all this apart and I can't see a logical place to secure it. Any ideas?

That is the activation switch. Metal flap is cycled to activate the heater under correct ambient temps

Check topics of interest on www.e38.org/e28 or /e23 to see lists of how tos both good and dead links. There is at least one showing door lock pics, repairs on an e23 which will help lead you.

The heater control box is discussed in this thread:  viewtopic.php?t=58924  The metal tab is operated by the door handle when pulled up on a locked door.

Note:  the pot metal ring the attaches the unlock link to the key lock will break easily and as you can see in the linked ETK pages it is only avail with the key lock. A pain to put back in, too with the L-shaped slightly curved piece that holds it in place.

Looking at what you have, I’m thinking the control is held in place on the forward stud for the door handle and Adjusted to have the handle press the metal flap to activate.
