Anyone have a good source for S38 tools such as the valve adjustment tool and the Camshaft removal tools, Crank, etc...

I have the correct "Sir Tools" valve adjustment tool that I paid about $150 for new a few months ago. Used once and worked perfectly.

I later found a BMW shim kit that included the tool on Ebay for a good price so I now have an extra.

Someone here rents out the crank nut tool. You can use Fiat or Volvo shims for the valves.

Camshaft tool suggestions? Or can you just loosen slightly each nut until the pressure is reduced?

I just loosen them slightly repeatedly. BTW, the Koala Motorsport S14 M3 manual is pretty freaking close to what you need to know. There are only a few differences.

Scored mine on eBay for under $100 shipped. They come up now and then.

No similar luck trying to find the original telescoping spark plug wrench.

You just need to make sure that the shaft is coming up straight, parallel to the cam tray. Sometimes, you need to pull on an end with your hand whilst loosening nuts on the loaded end. No special tools needed, not that it'd hurt.

As for valve adjustment, do you think you'll have the seats recut? If so, you may consider just paying a pro to do it, considering what you are likely to spend on a tool to remove the springs, and the adjustment pucks. If the pro knows BMW, they may have several pucks on hand. FYI, Honda guys do not usually undertsand, and may cut the valve stems instead...
