Just bought a 1990 524TD 5 Speed

Post by derkbarrington »

Hi from New Brunswick, Canada. Just picked up a 1990 TD car. The car was imported from Germany by a retired military chap and is in excellent condition except for the fact he recently broke the timing belt and must replace or repair the cylinder head.

Just wanted to introduce myself as I suspect I will be hanging around during the restoration process :)

I've always wanted to drive an e34 diesel. I had an e28 524td and liked it a lot. Should have kept it...

There was a guy selling an M21 engine from an E28 524td (along with 5-speed manual tranny and other E28 goods). I'll see if I can find that post. I think he was in Los Angeles.

Upon closer examination it was found the the cylinder wall undamaged not even a scratch. The motor is surprisingly good shape except for the head.
