Me sucking at auto-x

Post by M. Holtmeier »

Driver and suspension need work. The engine is coming around though! I don't remember the bov "fluttering" this badly with the old turbo though.

Enjoy!

Oh yeah, the video editing is just thrown together, still trying to figure out the software.

Little too much correction on your oversteer?

I'd like to see you do that same course with my springs (spax). Money says you'd find the limit of your tires & driving skills quickly. ;)

Are you pretty new to autocrossing with this setup? You seem timid in slaloms, no worries it will come with time. Also with your oversteer you went from a nice slide to upsetting the car because you just instantly got off the gas and upset the car. If at like :43 you could've got back on the gas and had it rotate around that next turn. That would've been 5 stars haha.

No where near enough tire smoke or drama!

That seems to be a fast course, I thought you did okay. Was this your first autocross?

I'm highly envious of your camera setup (and the car, for that matter)!

I saved all the tire-smoking sideways drama for my runs in the E23, which I sadly have no video evidence of. It was a quite open, fast course IMO.

My best run in the E23 was at least a full second behind Mike in the E28, you had some good runs.

I dare say yesterday at a parking lot in Bellevue was the only place for 5 states around where you could see 3 different turbo M30s running MS w/ wasted spark. :)

I would venture as far as the country! We need to hang out more often. My New Year's resolution is to make every local auto-x next year. This is good because it will keep me from working on the car(other than suspension, tires, etc.) and hone my driving skills.

That run looked pretty good in my virgin eyes, Peter! Good catch on the cone. I was nervous about wacking my freshly painted spoiler. It turns out the car leans so much I scraped the bottom corner a little bit.

Todd do you still have that short footage of that FI e30 tearing up the track? I can't recall if it used to be on your website or if I found it while browsing turbo car videos. This was years ago.
