What did you do to your other car(s) today?

On my E90 I vacuumed the entire car and the floormats, treated the dash, cleaned the windshield, installed a new jack pad for the drivers side (they're plastic and eventually wear out when you use a cheap jack like mine), cleaned the trunk, and swapped out the snow tires for my summer set.

I also swept out and vacuumed the garage so I wouldn't be crawling all over salt and grime.

Aired up the left rear snow tire on the e32 for (hopefully) the last time. There is snow in the forecast for tonight*, so I'm keeping the ratty old nearly bald Blizzaks on for now, but will roll the dice and put the BBSs back on this weekend. Will definitely get those things replaced before next winter!

* Yes, snow in the forecast, at the end of March. Not the latest I've seen snow, but it's still annoying as all get-out. But I'd like to have a word with that frickin ground hog!

short answer - remove alternator

long one:

remove engine cover,
detension serpentine belt
unhook belt from alternator
remove airbox
remove air snorkel
remove battery - charge it cuz it is dead
remove battery box
remove fan control module
drain coolant
remove rigid coolant pipe
remove thermostat housing
remove associated hoses
Lift out double fan assembly - bend and fight it all the way
disconnect alternator wires
unbolt alternator

On a related note, Cindy decided to scalp the front yard and took out three sprinkler heads. Joy.

Put air in the leaking mower tire.

Replaced the leaking front shock (puddle of oil under it meant it was time to change it). Also did the other side. This shock had lost it oil and had no internal friction. Jeep rides a bit better.

Now I am on to breaking the four bolts holding the top of the rear shocks, punching out the capture nuts welded to the support and pulling in some bolts with string to replace the rear shocks.

I might actually like driving the thing again.

Over the past couple weeks, I've detailed the E34 engine bay (round one of probably 4 or 5 to get it looking as I want it to look--should be enough to identify the source of my oil leak, though). Full interior detail, wash, wax.

Upcoming work: full exterior detail (clay, polish, seal), re-spray nose panel (front-end respray is flaking off that piece), replace some steering components and rear shock mounts, fix bent BBS RX, plug two summer tires that have screws in the tread.

continued to search for 6" wide fender flares to cover the 265/75 R16's on my Suzuki Samurai. Don't particularily want to pay $500 for them......

also started the '68 Dart 270 after having been sitting all winter, didn't even need to boost it

If only I had known.

Probably wouldn't have helped anyway as she was scalping on purpose to clear out a few years worth of debris.

Sprinklers are due to be replaced anyway. The system is leaking all over the place and the controller was a rainbird original prototype I believe- runs on plastic clockworks worse than an E28 odo.

Put the battery in the Baur
Started the e24for the first time since Sept.
Looked at the Cozzie, swore at it.
Gassed up the motorhome, swore at that too.

Believe me, when my dad is done with a vehicle, there is nothing left. Glad they went to someone willing to pay money for rust, even if it was by the ton.
