I took my cluster out to do some re wiring and found some unplugged plugs. there were three behind the cluster one blue with a male pin and two black ones with two wires connecting each and looked to be a bulb socket. On the cluster itself there was a two pin male connector with nothing connected to it. I circled them in yellow in the pictures.
I am trying to diagnose my battery indicator light not coming in still. I have wiring diagrams but which color is the wire i need to be looking for?
Plug in the second pic is for the automatic transmission indicator board, so you don't need it. I believe that bulb socket to be the ABS bulb socket, which would be plugged in to that empty hole in the second pic (5th bulb hole from the left.)
They don't fit in the empty holes and all the lights light up as they should. This is a manual swapped car I bought and its never run right. Do you need to swap dashes to a manual dash when doing the swap? I didn't do the swap so I really don't know.
Ignore the blue plug. There are a couple connectors back there that don't plug into anything.
The bulb socket needs a bulb to fit in the hole. I just checked the cluster I have and the empty hole is the anti lock brake light.
No, you don't have to swap the cluster for the car to run right or to get the battery light to light up.
The running problem is something else, but the battery light could be the cluster mother board itself. If you have the wiring diagram, it will tell you which connector and which wire to look for. It is in one of the 3 multipin plugs in the back of the cluster, I think it is blue.
What happens if you ground the D+ (NOT B+) blue wire on the alternator with a test light? Does the bulb in the cluster light up?
The plug with the big red and green/red looks like the one for the window circuit breaker to me. The breaker is usually in the knee bolster. Do the electric windows work?
