I really want to get my point across with this car as i resserected an olld topic but i want to start my own and here it is.
I have only posted here a couple of times and most likely will not be posting in the future as i sold all my beemers( e28 535i,e30 323i),
I can't believe i am going to sell this car but i have my reasons i can't be bothered typing again.
Call this car what you will, call or write to Bmw Motorsport division if you like and ask them why they put Motorsport badges, Motorsport racing stripes and everything else that was used on the M525i except for the 3.5 engine and the vin.
All these cars were based on the Euro 528i the specs of my car are as follows.
Model: 1984 e28 M528i (Australian Domestic Market)
Paint: Alpine White Bmw Motorsport stripes ( The stripes Varied a little through the years early late models etc).
Engine: M30b28( 184hp 9.4.1 Euro medium Compression) same power output as the ADM M535i.L jetronic non lambda fuel injection system
Transmission Getrag 5 speed 260 sports overdrive not the dogleg gearbox used in the M535i.
Lsd 3.45.1 25% in manual form
Suspension Lowered m technic springs with Bilstein heavy duty shocks, thicker front swaybar i am pretty sure the rear one is a standard e28 535i size.
Wheels14inch BBS
Interior Bmw factory recaro seat in the older Motorsport brown trim in my case but i have seen a couple of different colors and variations etc (but all are bmw recaros)sports steering wheel leather mine had deteriated so i have stripped it down to the bare rubber.
These cars are actually a little quicker than a M535i as they are little lighter etc.
All in all one of the best cars i have owned due to a nice blend of power & handling, nice amount of room, not big not small just right as i should say.
The only negative is and it is a big one is fuel economy is pretty dismal in the city especially when driven enthusiastically. it is ok on the open road.
The fuel injection is the outdated analogue Ljet as used on the e12.It runs an air pump which injects air into the exhaust manifold under vaccum and does not employ a o2 sensor which is a downfall due to the non feedback nature or closed loop as i should say which really hurts economy but i should point out that it does not hurt performance i think it might and i state might flow better than cat equipped models i can't really say i haven;t wasted my time testing it as it is the first thing that gets ditched in the bin (but i have lost many night of sleep contemplating how i can remove the air pump pipes to engineer a turbo manifold etc. but you cant).
so all the early cars can't be legally turbo charged unless a manifold with provision for individuall jets for the emission controll pipes be engineered and fabricated or original manifold be utilized i have found ways around it but it takes a lot of time and money etc.
Anyone in Australia after a nice clean example of a M528i will have a chance to by mine in the coming weeks i am being urged by everyone i know to move on from cars but i am having a difficult time to do so after 20+ years restoring and modifying them.
Anyone have any questions i will do my best to help but please, No you have placed the m badges on that e28 questions please direct them to Bmw Motorsport they are the ones that gave the go ahead to build these and i am happy they did.
you will find a couple of pictures at the top of this album of mine i will be posting a lot more soon.

Murat,
sad to hear you're moving away from the scene my friend, and also that i didn't get to see this turbo project come into fruition. Having seen this car in person, i can say that it's a very clean, and original example that's been fastidiously maintained by the most knowledgeable of owners. Someone's going to get a real gem. I wish you the best of luck with the sale!
What's happening with the Remotecs incidentally, now you no longer have a car to put them on?
Christian.

Hello Christian,
Nice to see another die hard fellow Bmw enthusiast from downunder here.
Yes it's been very difficult for me my sister has been saying you have not been yourself for a little while as there is a lot of change in my life.
I have had dozens of great cars but this one has given me a blend somehow of good things from them all.
Some of my cars have been faster some better handling etc but it is a great car and it will be a sad day for me when it goes but will be a happy day for the new owner.
Wish i could keep it but i need the space and i don't have the money for rego & insurance for a car just to sit in my garage i also refuse to use it for the daily grind.
I am simplifying my life and want to travel a bit see the world that means i can't have 3 cars.
I sold the landcruiser purchased a quick economical japenese car for everyday use.
I have started on the curb rash on the remotecs and i will follow through and complete them.
I found and purchased the missing cap form Canada and it was delivered to me a while ago i will drive up and show you how they came up if you like.
I will most likely offer the wheels with the car or sell them in the finished state along with a lot of other stuff i have.
I have also poured many hours on the motronic wiring which i half done i actually removed the intake manifold to test fit the b35 intake manifold and measure the harness for a direct fit in the original ecu position i managed to hack up three engine harnesses to make the harness fit perfect with the correct color & gauge of wire.
Christian how is your nice e28 turbo project going i know you yourself have put a ton of effort into your car.
I did see your car on the euro forum you have made a lot of progress on it if you need any advise just email me and i will try to help.
Christian it would be so easy for me to just build a nice setup for myself and not think about all the angles of repeatability and marketing etc i have a small stash of turbos and could do it over a long weekend but i wont do it for 2 reasons i refuse to do a illegal setup all my cars have been legal and also if i did put together a nice setup that was not legal it will be very hard to sell the car as i won't be able to obtain a roadworthy etc.
take a look at the photobucket link in the next few days as i will be posting a lot of pictures.
Take it easy

That's a fair cop. At the end of the day, it is only just a car, and is replaceable, and i know on many occasions i think how easy it would be to just sell up and move on, and abroad, but ive set myself a goal to finish this project and it's going to happen soon!Murat Kalyon wrote:Hello Christian,

It is coming along, albeit slowly. Engines in the car and wired up, but there's a few things left to do before that maiden turn of the key. As you know it's going in NA for the time being, so i've just been slowly acquiring the bits i need to complete the conversion and make it as prepped for forced induction as i can. Obviously i'm not in the same position as you as far as legalities, i have no intention to replicating the setup for sale purposes, and i have no intention of ever selling the car so it'll get legal NA, and then become not so much pretty soon after.
I've just received my Miller MAF and Chip which mean it now has a brain which is nice, have to drill the e34 getrag to make accommodations for the speed/reference sensors, order the UUC carbon composite clutch/pressure plate from the states, pick up a few more water hoses/modify the existing m20 power steering hoses to adapt to the m30 style pump, swap the m20 vacuum assisted brake booster out for the e34 540 hydraulic version and it'll be pretty much good to go. Timeframe is all dependent on the wallet size however!
And you're always welcome to swing past and talk cars, and check out the e28 while you're here, Just give me a call sometime and let me know.
Also, how much are you asking for the m528i? I may be able to help you out with a potential buyer, or at least get the word out there amongst us local car club enthusiast lads if you're serious in moving it quickly.
Take care.

I don't know why this has been moved to the for sale section as the car is not for sale yet i was trying to have a general conversation regarding these Australian model Motorsport cars as i already joined the bimmerclassics to prove a point to Alpina man and thought this is the best place for a little info on the ADM Motorsport cars and was hinting that i might be selling the car in the coming weeks anyway who cares.
Sounds like your digging your teeth into the project i always enjoyed turbo charging a car from scratch for fun and fabricating parts and slowly watching it comes together.
Its only when you are thinking about reproducing the parts by the way of jigs ,the law involved, reliable place to buy parts from that are good value quality warranty etc it all equals to not having fun anymore.
I will give you an example when i played basketball and we were playing pickup games at the old south melbourne stadium that Andrew Gazes father use to run we use to have a ball with ex nbl pro's and even a few ex Nba players Copeland etc but when i was in summer camps in Euroupe playing for spots available on pro teams and one of the guys missed a lay up in training the famous coach who died not long ago siad why did you miss the layup you should not miss a layup.
To cut a long story short when money is involved it is a business the fun factor slowly takes a dive that is why turning a serious hobby that you enjoyed into a business is not always fun but hard work especially when you can't afford to buy a new car and turbo it as the car is new and emissions are intact
I mean imagine going in for a shed test at altona with a 26 year old Bmw to pass an expensive emission test to sell a few parts it just does not make sense, it's more of a labour of love, anyway i type this as it might give someone insight into thinking it is easy to make money fabricating parts for old cars it's not.
Anyway keep persisting and you will get there and the amount of satisfaction you are going to get when you drive the car when completed no money can buy as you built it yourself.
Anyway i will put the car up for sale in few days i have a lot of new parts to go on the car in the next few days 4 x new lights new indicator lenses all original new old stock from Bmw the M badges were worn i purchased new ones from the UK they are the correct ones for the car with the stick on colors.
i did not want this to be a for sale post but what i want for it is about $6700 or the closes offer to it i will sell the wheels after the car is sold that way i give the option of the buyer to buy all the parts i have but it might get expensive that way.The wheels will look really nice on it (old german wheels on an old german car).
I will also will have a low km's non corroded looked after b35 head for sale with a complete fuel injection system check for pictures at photobucket i will be moving a lot of pictures there in the next couple of days.
I will try to complete the wheels over the weekend curb rash wise anyway as i still need to buy the german wurth laquer paint and when i do i will try to arrange a time for you to see them etc

Re: Australian Bmw M528i
Over the years I have owned 2 BMW M528i E28's - a red base spec car and a fully optioned white one.
The red car had cloth trim, including RECARO's, wind up windows, air con, manual with standard gear knob, leather 3 spoke steering wheel, 14" BBS alloys, front and rear spoilers, and M-sport stripes.
The white one was part leather trim, RECARO's, sunroof, rear blind, electric windows, air con, manual with M-sport knob, leather 3 spoke steering wheel, had fitted 16" colour coded Simmons wheels but with a 14" BBS spare wheel, front and rear spoilers, and M-sport stripes.
Neither car had flared guards or side skirts.
Both cars were the same mechanically but I recall my red car was just a bit sweeter. Both cars had LSD's, ABS, 5 speed manuals and were absolutely bullet proof. I lived in the Adelaide Hills and both cars were driven HARD. Tens of thousands of kilometers and no breakdowns.
I also had an E28 528i Executive. The M cars were so much faster it was like they had completely different engines. Standard car blew a head gasket at 130000kms. Red M528i had 250000 on the clock when I sold it with no issues. The M cars could lay serious rubber and do static burnouts where the standard car couldn't dream about it. They were wonderful cars that seemed to be way more different than anyone realizes.
