Hi gents,
I had a conversation with Rob at UUC about his E28 M5 / E24 M6 cat-back mufflers. And I wanted to update the folks here in case anyone is interested.
Firstly, I think we all can agree that his old mufflers were probably one of the best ones out there (I should know, having had two of them!), and its quality is very high. He's had a lot of interest and is keen on looking into prototyping and testing (sound, fit, etc). Also, he's looking at improvements in the design and construction as well (although I cannot speak to what he will do exactly, we have spoken of a few areas there...and also he's getting feedback from the longevity and other aspects from his old units).
Suffice it say, if you're interested in these units, please give UUC a call. Speak to Arjun or Rob, and let them know that if and when they make a run, you'd be highly interested in them.
They will not be cheap. They will very likely be MORE than $1,000 each. Remember his original units were $950-1000, if I remember correctly, in 1999-2000.
Also, he's looking at 535i/635CSi fitments as well. If you have a 535i or 635CSi, and want one, let him know as well.
So now's the time folks, if you want to get one of the nicest, best quality, good sounding, and performance boosting exhaust systems out there for your M5, M6, 535i or 635, let the folks at UUC know you're interest. Testing will most likely happen in mid July. Production has of yet has not been agreed upon or scheduled, but hopefully that will happen soon thereafter.
Best,
-Chris
More news/update on UUC mufflers (July 2010)
Thanks Chris - this is great news. I had left a message for Rob a few weeks back, but never heard back. More importantly, I thought I was going to be able to wait until this winter for the exhaust on this car......until things got notably louder on the way home last Friday.
For the 'right' part, I think I can hold out a couple more months.
