Fuel line ?

Fuel line ?

I need to replace the fuel lines that come off the rail by the fire wall. I was wondering if you guys recommend getting the lines from the dealer or will off the shelf fuel injection hose be adequate? Are there any special bends? I replaced the one off the fpr already with an OE replacement, but used standard stuff for the fuel feed/pump at the rear of the car.

How do you guys prefer removing the intake plenum by splitting the velocity stack or removing each boot?

I'd recommend BMW fuel line. It is cheap and will last a LONG time. The auto parts store shit seems to fail quickly...

At the very least, and as an interim measure, use the high-pressure, fuel injection line that will cost $7-$10 per foot, NOT the regular gas line you would put on the lawnmower. Most of that low-end line is labelled "NOT FOR USE ON FUEL INJECTED CARS," but it's still the first thing they sell when you ask for gas line.

For the long term fix, the Conti/BMW line is the best bet for that line at the back of the fuel rail.

I was in the same neighborhood of maintenance...

So, if'n I was gonna go ahead and run all new fuel lines...
How many feet/meters should I buy from BMW?

Joe, can you measure the diameter of the fuel line and post the numbers for me please. I'm hoping they are .312 or .375 inches. If they are we can us AN fitting rather then hose clamps. Mine leak from time to time.., and allows the fuel pressure to fade which causes a slow and anemic startup.

I may have some extra FI line that I will sell for a song. However, on the lines from firewall to rail, agreed with Kyle, use the BMW stuff.

I replaced all of the fuel line in my M5 with the new 5/16" (where applicable.. obviously 5/16" doesn't fit on the tank feed line) Goodyear high pressure fuel injection line and new OEM clamps. This stuff can usually be purchased at your local Autozone and is recognizable by it's blue inner wall lining. I've been extremely happy with it so far.
