I have just found an inch of water in front passenger floor. Done search for inf and need to remove carpet to find source (my bet is HVAC from vent well) need to know how to remove door threshold without breaking it. Does it just pry up? Where is the drain in the vent well on passenger side? Will check sunroof drains, tail lights, trunk and windshield seals as per search.
As usual
Thanks Bob
WATER LEAK
Re: WATER LEAK
Yes. Slow and steady wins this race. Be patient, take little bits up at a time. The fact it is above freezing is in your favor as well. Good luck.uncle bobbin wrote:need to know how to remove door threshold without breaking it. Does it just pry up?
Although standing water would suggest a plugged drain, make sure to also check the rear of the front fender (wheel) well, on the outside, where it bends to form the flat of the floor as well as the 'footboard' directly underneath the glove box area. Stone or road (debris) damage can often cause small holes or breaks in the sheet metal which will eventually grow due to corrosion and allow water (usually quite a bit, although not necessarily a puddle) into this area, and it can be hard to track down until you actually pull a wheel and inspect closely. Pay attention to the folded/creased area around the bottom of the inner fender liner, as well as the bottom attachment points for that same fender liner. I chased wetness in this area for a year before I finally found the hole.
I just put my passenger seat back in after fixing my leak, which was the windshield seal. Drying out the foam under the carpet is going to take forever if you leave it all in the car. I know it sounds bad, but after about a week I ended up cutting the front two bits of foam to get them out. they dry much faster in a heated basement than a cold wet car.
Try just pouring water on different spots and waiting for it to drip in.
