1988 528e For Sale

Post by Kenny Blankenship »

The Euro M30 engine in the 733 has turned out so well, I'm going to see what I can do about getting another car with a Euro M30 engine...

So Super E II has to go. It has served me faithfully for 3 years and 40k miles. It a very nice daily driver. It's been upgraded with the following:

- Dinan Springs
- Bilstein Sports front and rear
- Koni sway bars front and rear (22/16)
- 325i single mass flywheel
- E32 750i front brakes and 740i rear brakes
- M-Tech steering wheel

I also bought an OEM Boysen exhaust 2 years ago.

It is white with anthricite (dark grey) cloth interior. No tears in the interior, no cracks in the dash (thanks Darin!). 5 speed manual. 161k miles. Uses a quart of oil every 3,000 miles. Very reliable...it's been across the country a few times :D

It will need a timing belt in 10k miles (50k). It has a bad wobble on braking, I do have an extra set of control arms with 750i bushings. The heater blower is slightly squeaky when I brake. I found out today I'm missing an ashtray in the rear driver's side door, I should have a replacement soon. There are a couple of dings on each side and two large dings on the roof.

I'm asking $4500 with the BBS RA wheels, $4100 with some other wheels (16" style 61 or 15" E34 mesh).

Here are the pictures:

Yup, Both my new uns are cloth. My parts Super E was manual cloth. I have leather interiors just waiting to go in . But the cloth is comfy. I actually like it better than leather to sit on. Until it gets really ratty, Im staying with it.

This is a fantastic car. If I had the desire to become more like Eric Q, I'd pick it up and I'm bored by Etas. I drove this car on the way to 5er Fest 2008 and it feels fantastic. The suspension is perfect for that car. I feel it's worth more than Eric is asking, but he's definitely being reasonable. In fact, to get the car with those wheels for $4500 would be a great deal for whoever buys it.

Having purchased a car from Eric, I can assure you he doesn't cut corners with maintenance (I have the records to prove it) and he's a great guy to do business with.

Wow, I'd REALLY like to have this car. Then again, a $2k eta would do me fine also.

Don't know about cloth interiors on '88 Super 528e...

But the true test of exterior inspection is that they have twin exhaust pipes....these photo's are too dark under the rear bumper to see the twin pipes...

When I bought mine in '88 it had leather seats....you would need the VIN to be actually sure if it is a Super...

Not all '88's were Super's...they were made towards the end of the '88 run....This is what I have always been told....

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yo! Adrian! You are incorrect. You don't have any family named Lyle and Erik, do you?

1.) 1988 was 22 years ago. Anyone with cardboard and a welder can install an exhaust.

2.) Throughout the entire span of the 528e (1982-1988), you could get cloth, vinyl or yes, leather seats.

3.) 3/87 on = Super Eta.

4.) I've seen and driven the car. It's a Super Eta. No need to question it. Eric knows what he has.

There isn't a better Super Eta out there, in my opinion.

Eric's 1988 Super ETA

No need for personal attacks....

If I am wrong so be it....

Never saw cloth seats with power seats...

But then I learn something new everyday...

I thought this forum was for the purpose of exchanging
info on E28's...

Let Eric defend himself...

By the way Eric....nice car....very!!!

It wasn't a personal attack. I ask everyone with that last name - assuming it is in fact your last name.

I will say that the period is an excellent way to end a sentence.

If you wanted an exchange of information on E28s, what did I just give you?

Eric.s E28

Post by yomenendez »

When I meet someone for the first time I disclaim any relation to those boys...
It always brings a chuckle....especially if you have the feeling they were thinking about it.

So! what about my question about cloth seats with power seats?

Just looking for info on E28's.

Having driven a few SuperEtas in my day, I can tell you that they all had power seats and plenty of them had cloth. In fact both my parents' current DDs, both SuperEtas, have power cloth seats.

Not to mention that the combined SuperEta knowledge already posting in this thread is monumental. This is one case where you could take my explicit word for it, but you should take the word of the seller Eric Quon and the other educated folks who posted words of praise in of the car.

Thank you for bringing me the info....

There just are not that many 528e's left on the road...

Went to a U-pull and pay salvage yard today....

One 528e to look at...it was totally picked over...right down to the push buttons on the sills...

Will be talking to you.

That is my last name.

Oh, some activity...

I can assure you that it's an '88 Super Eta. The OEM Boysen exhaust I bought has dual pipes.
