Get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle if i dont want to think about anything, including the operation of said vehicle.

Go hang out with friends - it will take your mind off of whatever is bothering you.

Yardwork. You'll end up subconsciously thinking about it still, though.

I would NOT do anything like go driving or whatnot -- you will be distracted, whether you think so or not.

Not think? Kinda hard to do. Sleep works, I know a gun would do it, but hey, I want to think again.
Now if you mean about "anything important", well that's another whole different story. MyE28.com is a decent place to go to do that.

I would prefer to discuss the opposite.
I generally find it valuable to stop sometimes "just to think".
For that, it's the patio, a beverage, a cigar, and the wife.
But that's not the topic, so I'll save it.

I'll either hang out with friends or go putz around in the garage and find something to do whether it be work on something or just clean up.

tinkering is good, just start taking random things apart, but if its something you like i would make sure you know how to put it back together.

Don't Play rugby.
My Girlfriend just recently broke up with me, and i was playing rugby yesterday and my mind was completely elsewhere, so here i am standing in fullback, and a kick comes over the top straight to where i am, and i completely muff it up.
Feel quite bad atm.

I can't do it. No matter how hard I try, I just can't not think about anything. Something is always working out not quite as planned, so it's rough.

It's pretty hard (i.e. nearly impossible) to not think about anything. Having dealt with family members with OCD (and being borderline myself at times, I suppose) I can attest to the fact that the only viable option is to change your thoughts. I may be heading in the wrong direction here, but I can recommend a book or two if you're interested. Some folks report good success with zen, meditation, etc, though I'm certainly no expert on that.

Put on some good headphones and "Dark Side of the Moon" all the way through. Or "Paradise Theatre".

You can take some sort of mind controlling substance or you can just goto sleep. Both will make you not think. If you want to stay conscious, then I suggest putting on a good movie. There are plenty to choose from. Make it a Blockbuster night!
