TD Swap
The bellhousing is different and the engine mounts are totally different. Peek on realoem.com to see how different the engine mounts are.Shikaroka wrote:That's what I figured.
How much harder would it be into the 535?
Is the bellhousing on the transmission different?
How about the engine mounts, how different are they?
Why would you? The 524td is terribly slow to begin with, saddle it down with a larger, heftier chassis and it's even worse. It'll be you and the garbage truck drag racing, and you'll probably lose. Also, depending on whereabouts you're located, you won't be able to get through smog with it.Shikaroka wrote:How about a little bit newer 5 series, like a 91 525? Would that be much different.
As you can see, I am still learning my Bimmers, but I am no newb when it comes to engine swaps.
I don't have smog to worry about here.
I have a VERY nice 524td, that was just recently totaled.
I have done lots of work to it, and it was making about 150hp/280tq, and I wasn't done. I had plans on about 170-180hp/350tq. It was still getting 35mpg.
So, it isn't that slow. How much heavier is the next gen? (E34 is it?) The E28s are pretty heavy.
I am trying to decide if I want to put it back into an E28 or something else. I am persuing my options.
Thanks for all the feeback guys!
