E28 Interior

Post by e281985 »

Right now my car has a tan seats, tan door panels, black dash, center console and carpet(carpet not floor mats just to be clear). I know at some point the seats and door panels were replaced. The rear deck behind the seats seems to be blue (cant tell if it is just really faded black) so would the car still have had a black dash, console and carpet with the rest of the interior blue? Thanks

If the interior was blue, you'd still have had a black dash and a black surround where the ashtray is (below the radio console, but above the shifter console).

Everything else would be blue (carpet, seats, etc).

Black parcel shelf turns blue over the years from UV damage. Sounds like you had a black interior or red.

My rear parcel shelf carpet has turned blue from the sun... whats the easiest way to dye it back black? Fabric paint? How hard is it to get out?

Probably.

It's fairly involved to remove. You have to take the rear seat out.

Well, it's not that bad. The worst part is getting the shelf out, disconnecting all of the wiring and not damaging the headliner on the c-pillar.

The SEM "Color-Coat" is a great product. Nice, even coverage and it doesn't look dyed. They have both black and anthracite.
