Death letter Rest in Peace Larry

Post by w0014170 »

I thought about the pain this is causing and wanted to share it without offending anybody here. If you are offended, my apologies, if you are a recreational user think about this letter. You may very well derive a benefit from it. It is to my Dad, he always listens.

Dad,
I heard this morning that a very close friend, in fact a "brother" passed away last night in his sleep. You will remember Larry from the 80's when he fixed your green VW Quantum radiator @ the shop in Metairie.
Greg Duhe called this morning and explained that Larry's roommate found him after a call from his employer that he had not shown up for work.
Gina, Larry's wife had left him sometime back because of the drug situation in which he was involved but refused to divorce him at the urging of family simply because of the health insurance her position at Oschner Hospital afforded in his treatment of diabetes. Larry had a severe drug problem which was cured by hemorrhaging and dieing in his sleep.
This is the same guy that 25yrs ago benched pressed in excess of 400lbs, took pieces from multiple boxes and resurrected three Ferrari's and shipped them to their owners.
I miss Larry greatly.
Bill has been part of this ordeal as well as Greg Duhe. There has been plentiful tears about this today. Personally I was very angered that Larry did this to his family and friends. Somewhere he lost the connection to those that cared about him and that is the great tragedy of this "drug generation".
It really pisses me off that there will be no more lunches and drinks with this guy I call a friend. It pisses me off that his daughters will now endure what they probably knew but had reasonable doubt about. the rumors. It's not fair.
Bill said "Larry was in hell the last few years as I have been". I'm calling bullshit on that. I told Bill if you were in that much hell, you would have fought till you died to get out. That's a fucking excuse. You lost your will to progress because it's easier to blame it on surgery where it all begins than it is to say to yourself, "it hurts but it's better than dieing with nobody around".
In a few days I will see Gina, Larry's wife, Autumn and Amber, Larry's daughters. I need to tell them the father and husband they loved was my friend and did all he could, and I'm having trouble with the justification. Gina knows the truth, the girls do not.
I will say now for all the living that indulge in this behavior, it is not fair to those left behind what you did. You will never pick, accelerate nor delay your own death for it was written without your input and rightly so. What you can do is not cause any individual to think that your lifestyle is the culprit by living within the confines of society and morality.
I loved Larry as a friend and brother, and will miss him greatly. That said, the damage and pain he left in his wake was not our cross to bear yet we do so for some time to come in the belief that God will lift the weight from us and we can miss him in peace.

Sorry about your loss..

I've seen what drugs can do to people first hand.. I had a group of buddies in grade school that I had considered best friends from the 3rd grade up to senior year.. During senior year, they got really into drugs, and wound up stop showing up for school and dropping out.. They were doing fine and on track up till the last year of high school.. Last I saw them, the one I considered my best buddy has been in and out of jail and on his last (felony) strike before he has to some hard time. Ironically that night they got into a huge brawl at a night club and came extremely close to getting that last felony to land in jail for 5 years.. It didn't happen that night, but I wouldn't doubt that he is in jail now, since I haven't heard from him since.. It's sad to see people go from regular citizens to such a low life in society.. I couldn't stick around to see them push themselves toward death, but I'm sure, with the crowd they hang out with, it can't be that far away..

I'll be leaving Tuesday for Larry's wake. Thank you for the kind thoughts and comments.

It's truly a shame that it happened the way it did.

Tell kids and loved ones that abuse by prescription or the street is one and the same.

Thank You.
