The headliner is discolored around the rear windows of my 1987 535i - a common development in our cars. I understand through search that these headliners can be dyed to restore the original color.
My headlner is a light grey that has a linen like surface - but, it is not of course linen.
Does anyone have some of this dye handy that I can buy?
The carpet & vinyl dye sold at Autozone or the automotive section of Walmart works very well for the headliner. Pretty easy, comes in an aerosol can. The result looks close to the M5 headliner but not as much of a matte finish at closer look. My interior is a dark color, and I think it looks so much better than the grey one, even without the discoloration I had.
You can buy the SEM leather and fabric dye.. it comes in many colors and of which there are 3 or 4 shades of beige so you can find one to match pretty close. It also comes in an spray can so its easy to apply.
