WTB: 1 M5 center cap and Kidney Grille

Post by wkohler »

I somehow lost both an M5 centercap and my kidney grille today. I did a lot of driving and have no idea where either could be. I can't get my damn hood open, either, so today is really crappy.

Well, I just drove 78 miles (my entire route today) and no luck on the center cap. According to a part number cross-reference on Real OEM, it's the same as the E30 14" RZ center cap, so they should be quite plentiful. Funny, since I thought they were a little smaller. I'll have to have it powder-coated to match and paint the center plastic black, too.

Part number: 36132225376

Johnny, PM incoming!

If that is the case, I can probably get you and Johnny each one next weekend...

Well, after some more research prompted by a "If that's the case, then how come no one has mentioned it before?" moment, it turns out that the 14" wheel cap is actually 20mm smaller than the one for the M5. An E30 M3 cap should actually work, though. I'll have to make a couple of calls tomorrow.

Yeah, I'd go new, but it's going to have to be powder coated a different color anyway to look right, and I don't see the point of doing that to a new one.

I found the kidney grille, but it's in the gore point at the busiest freeway transition in Phoenix, so it's not worth the hassle. Now, if it was the center cap...

Chris since ya can't find one and since you have to powdercoat it and all I will send you one off the M5 .It will need refinishing anyhow and I will most likely put the Throwingstars on it anyhow. Karma... Johnny
