m535i exhaust

Anyone know where I could get a complete exhaust for it. My m535i has the high compression dirty motor. the current exhaust has no cat. Should i get a muffler and fing a shop to costom fit/bend a pipe from the exhaust manifold?

It can be done. I paid $750 Canadian to get a fabricated exhaust from the down pipes to the resonator including a cat. They charged $140 for each of the 2 pipes and $300 for a dual in dual out Magnaflow cat.The rest was taxes.

Ted are you happy with the magnaflow setup? Did you add the cat for emission reasons?

I put one of Paul LaDue's exhaust systems on my M535i last summer, along with new euro downpipes and an aftermarket cat. Here's a link to the post I made at the time, with a more complete description, some photos and a sound clip.

Well, to be legal in the USA you need one.... However, if your car is only for 'off road use' (wink, wink) you could just extend the downpipes to mate up to the LaDue catback system.

Stuart, if I decided not to go with a cat would I have back pressure issues? Here in NY because of the year of my e28, for inspection, all the tech does is check that all the lights, brakes, tires etc are up to par.

IMO, the stock euro or US mufflers are best when used w/ track pipes. Remember the euro muffler has a little more restriction to make up for not having a cat. I have been told by S38 experts thru the years that the stock exhaust makes the best HP for stock or slightly modified engines. (They say the same for the S14s) As you can hear from my SOUND check post.......The OEM muffler and resonator (sans cat) can sound just as good or better than more expensive after market systems. I have had B&B triflows, custom Magnaflow single 3" pipe, dual Flow Masters w/ high flow cats and even a SS system at one time or another. All except the SS had an annoying din at cruise. Not so with the stock system. Local wholesale warehouse here list the stock US exhaust for only $585.00 now....almost 50% less than 10 years ago. What ever HP or torque you may think I'm missing out on....I'm not too concerned. For my driving habits the OEM system makes me happy. Good luck in finding a system that suits you.

Great success with the SS system - quality, fitment, easy installation and 20lbs lighter. NOW! Just got SHORTY HEADERS - These replace the heavy cast iron boat anchors.
They are identical in shape-both with tringle flanges that mate up to stock exhaust system. For those who DO NOT want to run a CAT...hint! hint! in NY. Have 2 down pipes made up with flange fits. Excellent flow - min restriction - awesome sound!
