1985 535i Turbo- needs new motor. Lots of mods PRICE DROP

Post by bran »

Well guys, the problem that started with DAS last year was never solved. They broke the oil cooler line and proceeded to run the car. I had a new oil pump installed after this but now we have found metal shavings in the oil. As the car gets warmer the oil pressure drops. So I've decided to let it go as a parts car. It also has 8:1 Ross forged pistons but I am unsure whether these are salvagable or not. It has 179,xxx miles. All of the suspension has been gone through and nearly everything has been replaced. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The car has no rust.

This 1985 535i will come with the following pieces:

Complete 745i turbo system with aftermarket piping. The turbo was rebuilt by Mellett about 1,000 miles ago.
Miller Wastegate
Full 3" exhaust
Spec Stage 3 clutch
3.73 lsd
Euro bumpers and headlights
Dinan Stage 2 suspension
850ci Brembo front brakes
E38 basketweaves with 300 mile old Fuzion 225/50/16 ZR tires.
Genuine Alpina front spoiler (not installed. needs repairs, prep & paint).
The interior is in excellent condition.

If I didn't live in an apartment I would just find another M30 and swap all the turbo parts over.

I am asking $3000 obo and will split the cost of shipping with the buyer.

Here are a few pictures

I'm sorry to hear that. Would you consider selling the turbo seperately?

It is a U.S. spec car with a euro conversion.

Chris, there is someone interested in the car minus the turbo parts. Would you be interested? Everything is in great shape and the turbo was recently rebuilt.

DAS auto shipping? My god, they have ruined more cars than I care to imagine. I can get you a list, you need to find a lawyer. Call the Better Business Bur. Seriously, its about time someone shut this company DOWN!

Bran,

I'm interested in only the turbo... PM me and let me know a price and we can go from there.

Will this come with the exhaust manifold, turbo with mounting bolts, wastegate, exhaust manifold studs, and the exahust and wastegate down tube.

if cdevine only wants the turbo. I might beinterested in the custom piping and wastegate, etc. I will be doing a similar build soon so it would work out.

Nice car! I'm not interested in any trades at the moment, though. I am motivated to sell my car, I will help cover the cost of shipping for anyone interested. Thanks.

Reread the OP. The car was damaged by the shipping company and it's never really run correctly. I doubt the current owner has a dynosheet or has run the car extensively.

Yes, right now the car is putting down about 0hp. The oil pressure will rise for a very short period of time and then drop back to 0. Nebraska, It was running on a 745i motronic. The car would be great for someone with an M30 sitting around. Just pull the motor, swap the turbo parts and put the new motor back in!! With a little tweaking, you'd be good to go.
I forgot to mention in the OP that the car does not have a head unit or amp.
Alijonny, I am in Norman, OK.

Thanks

well, if you get into the mood of parting the car, I take interest in the euro bumpers/ front valance/ turbo stuff. it's unfortunately too far for me to travel and tow it back home.

about $550 according to the DAS website. Of course that's to the DAS drop point and not to your door.
