Good morning,

I am new to this forum, don't have an e28 but got an e30. Looking for a b35 engine, complete or just head or bottom end let me know what you have, condition, miles and price.

Thanks.

Hey Jean,

You post over on r3vlimited right, and are looking to swap one into your 84 318i correct? Anyway, there are 2 different versions of the B35.

1st - from the 88-89 635csi/L6, uses the same motor mount points as the E28.
2nd - from the 89-92 535i/735i/iL, these use the later style motor mounts usually associated with the B35 motor.

Hope this helps on your search.

Ben,

Correct . Thank you for additional info, appreciate it :)

I need the b35 with bigger valves and to clear the firewall.

Car-part.com... I just bought one, it was the best listing I could find. For an e30 the mounting points aren't going to bolt up Anyway, so any of them should work as well as the other. try to get one with the ECU # ending in 179, they're supposedly marginally better. m535i.org has a good write up on the wiring, as does this site, which you may already know about.

I know the engine mounts won't match, but the way that the rear coolant line exits on the b35 head is different from the b34, no ? With the b35, you get just enough room for the whole thing to fit with custom engine mounts w/o having to bang the firewall to make room.

What engine did you end up buying, was it complete ?

There is no cooling exit at the rear of the head. There's a spot for one, but it's blocked off.
The e28 and e23 have the pipes, just coming out different sides.

The water outlet from the b34 head will bolt right onto the back of the b35 head, replacing a blank-off flange.

Jean:

I have a complete M30B35 motor with accessories, transplanted from a '88 635csi into a E28 that I'm parting.

Has a recently sorted top end with new valve seals/guides, fresh headgasket set installed, and ran great before I retired the car(86 535i), and put it on stands. It's currently installed, but I plan on pulling it soon PM me if interested and let me know what you need--

I'm in St Louis, MO.
