Flywheel for manual trans

Hello

I used an 82 528e flywheel and indexed the timing refernece nubs onto it from the flex plate....cost about $50 plus $25 for surfacing...I think any M20 single mass should work...

I assume you did the auto to manual conversion on your 524? I would like to do this also as I have an 83 528e donor car but have been told the flywheel has to be replaced to accomodate the stater for the td engine. Is this correct? Any other helpful tidbits would be appreciated.
