Maybe another shot at a TD....

Post by bmw4aaron »

Hey guys, after much frustration on my last TD, I ran across another one. This one I believe is an 86, due to the third brake light and premium audio. Which me likes.

Anyhow, Aside from the usual, I remember ISO524 talking about headgasket failures if the headbolts are loose. Should I slap a new gasket on there and bolts, as preventive maintenance?

I'm going for a test drive Sunday, and if I hear any kind of knock, I'm running and not looking back. I know what that means. It does have 250k miles on it....

RUN, DON'T WALK

It has a knock. Run away, dude.

Don't let some oil-burner derail your next V12 Frankenbimmer foray. . . . Let it go, along with the flywheel and all your other 22:1 compression-based dreams, fanboy.

I thought you'd gotten the message last time and agreed to leave the m21 diesels to the bigs. . . Or do you have this posting saved as a Word file and just copy/paste it up here every time you run across a 524td for sale? Cause everyone on this board is super-glad to help anytime!

Oh, yeah: two days after our last chat I got a euro diesel flywheel for ~$100.00 on eBay - I wanted to thank you for your kind and gentlemanly advice on the block sensor pick-ups, otherwise I would have let it go. . . great score, thanks again!

I think I remember the auction you speak of. Was it in Washington, from an e30 turbo diesel?

Other than the TD I bought from Jay this is the only time I've made a post about buying a TD.

No 22:1 compression dreams here. I know where to go if I want real power. Just looking for a beater, now that I'm 45min~ away from work.

But hey man, I apologize if I was a dick to you in the past. I'm here for help, and to help.
