what all do i need to drain the brakes of my 88' m5?

You will need to define your terms a bit there. Draining brakes is not a common procedure to my knowledge. Do you mean bleeding brakes? :? :? :?

Leeches.

Just kidding, you need either a helper or a pressure bleeder or a vacuum bleeder, about 1-1.5L of fresh brake fluid, some tubing, a waste container, and a 7mm box-end wrench.
