Clutch letting off really low

Checked the fluid level and it is fine. Plan to put the car on stands tonight and check the slave and the tranny levels. Other thoughts on this and items to check/potential causes welcome. Also, shifter seems a little stiffer.

I had a similar problem, but the clutch was really stiff and would catch close to the floor. It ended up being the input shaft was binding the throw-out bearing.

Don't forget about the possibility of a cracked clutch pedal bracket. Those things can drive you crazy trying to figure out why new clutch masters only last a month or two. And I couldn't see the crack until I took it out. Like a lot of things, it starts out gradually. Of course hydraulics getting tired after 20 years could happen, but why look for the logical solution, LOL.

Sounds kinda like my problem. Please let us know how the clutch slave checks out.
Mine is also engaging close to the floor. No fluid loss. I sure hope its not the pedalbox. U say its hard to see the crack unless you take it out? See my post from yesterday,"Its Hard Getting into Gear".

the throw-out fork levers on a plastic.........yes.a plastic pivot. when worn..and i can say with certainty that its an oft overlooked part,..the most prevalent symptom is clutch engagement right off the floor.
replace the pivot with a new one............and its likely your issue will be resolved............

Had this on my E34 and E28. Both times a new clutch slave made everything right....

Clutch slave sounds a lot better than a cracked pedalbox.

FYI, I had no fluid loss either. The clutch slave was just shot and not keeping pressure. When that slave cylinder finally does let go, you're going to be left with a car that's always in gear, not fun if you're far from home. Mine let go in the middle of Boston and I had to get home in 1st gear shutting down my car whenever I came to a light and then starting up in gear again to get moving.....
My e28 toasted the replacement slave in less than 5k miles leaving me stranded again but the second one is holding great so far....

Mine's engaging with the pedal a few inches off the floor too. No fluid loss. Love to know what you find...
