As of yesterday evening I sold my 95 Contour GL for $1300 and paid even less for my first BMW. She needs some work and a lot of TLC, but I think I did alright. I figure ya'll will let me know either way.
Forgive my ignorance, I'm assuming that Delphin is the BMW term for the charcoal paint color. If that's the case, then yes and it's a 528e. I bought it from a guy I work with, who was the original owner. He's maintained it mechanically pretty well. The battery is shot, the odometer quit working about 500 miles ago and it vibrates wildly for a second when you hit the brakes at higway speeds, but besides that the mechanics seem pretty solid. I'm so psyched to be back into a car with some style, instead of some crap vehicle that looks like every other crap vehicle on the road.
No apologies necessary-welcome! I think it's Delphin--there should be a paint color sticker on the passenger shock tower under the hood. I've always liked that color for some reason.
Enjoy your new ride. Thje problems you describe are common and reasonable to repair--sounds like you got a good deal.
Thank you very much for the compliments. I like that color a lot too. She'll need to be repainted soon and I think I'm going to try to stick to that color. From what I've seen and read so far I think I did okay.
I've got to double check when that was last done, but I'm pretty sure you are correct and it will need a new timing belt. The entire front brakes were replaced recently. The shimmy in the front sounds like control arm bushings, according to the sources I've consulted so far. All except for the Magic 8 ball, which only revealed that the "Outlook not good."
I apologize for my sense of humor. I'm very excited to finally have my Bimmer. I'm kind of a geek that way. At least most of ya'll will probably understand my excitement.
hey your front drivers door strip looks like mine, i wonder why its the only one that gets all crappy like that?
I don't know. I can tell you that it looks much better after a good bath, but those strips will all be replaced when she gets repainted.
