There was a GTR with a japanese front plate when i was at the nurburgring on march 20. I dont know enough about skylines to know which one precisely, but somewhere between R32 and R34 :)

I would rather have 2 turbos hanging off my 3.5L hehe i would want the Skyline, not that engine. The RB26DETT is not the best engine out there. And for hte $$ its one of the most expensive for upgrades with most of them being made by Tomei and other Expensive ass companies. Dont get me wrong, it is my fav car and engine out of all the Nissans, but a TT bmw would own all.

Also, 8K rpm is reachable easily, but not alot of people end up running that or even close. It costs too much money to blow up a RB26 compared to a SR20 where parts are a dime a dozen.

I thought about trying to fit one of those into a Silvia S12, but an I-6 is too long for it.

Ahhhh bullshit! People fit 350's into little VW bugs. We could easily fit that 2.6 into the S12 body.

Raj,
You need to drive a properly setup m20 or m30 turbo and you'll stop dreaming about the Skyline.

there are several 1000hp skylines.

the rb26dett and 2jz-gte are motors of legend (if your goal is to build a reliable dyno queen, anyway :)

Maybe not the best, but damn close. The RB26 stock internals are said to be able to easily handle 500+hp...not bad for a 2.6L.

The only thing that would make me stop dreaming of a skyline would be to buy one. Don't get me wrong... an m30 turbo would be great. But it wouldn't have an 8k redline, driftable AWD, and to top it off, RHD to f*ck with people.

skylines and supras have been known b/c they are "overengineered" meaning there is still gobs of hp that can be had from them. the 2jz motors can support 1000 hp on a stock bottom end with a built head. no one can take away from those motors as they are simply magic.

not quite. 600hp is where bearing failure start to show like on main and rod bearings. The bottom ends are fairly feefy from the factory though. They can be ported extensivily if you know what your doing and how much you can go.

there was a supra in sport compact car last year pushing 1000 hp at the crank and the headline read "stock bottom end", it had stock rods and pistons, i cant comment on any of the fasteners but even 600 hp on a stock motor is insane. haven't seen any bimmers do that yet.

eh, i know a few supra owners. one was making 700ish hp on a T72 or T88 (i dont remember). no bottom end work that i know of.

the bottom of that motor is incredibly strong. i have a hard time beleiving 600hp is where bottom end problems start showing up since so many guys are running bpu++ with zero internal mods at all, and thats the 500ish territory.

I have a very good friend with a RB25DET (T) with a pair of IIRC garrets on it.... in an S14...

it scared the poo out of me in stock single-turbo guise (~380whp) now it makes another 100 or so, but luckily not quite so immediately off idle...

the car is wicked.... no doubt.

2jzgte w/6spd...now that would be a cool (though sacrilegious) motor swap into an e28. I'd sport a BMW with a "powered by Toyota" sticker on the back, as long as it had at least 500hp.

Too bad the 2JZ comes in such a numb (albeit capable) car.

there is a site that specializes in e36 conversions with the 2jz motors. it does anything from a stock 2jz motor to all out 800 hp conversions.
