Dear fellow Mye28ers....
I have decided to sell my e28 that I genuinely thought I would keep forever.
And right up front, I will tell you that I will not be listing the price here on this forum. My feeling (PLEASE, before anyone recklessly trashes this notion) is that a price someone pays, or even begins as a negotiating standpoint, is the business of the seller and the buyer; not as fodder for armchair qb'ing of who paid too little or too much for a car that probably that person never got all the details. On platforms like BAT or Cars & Bids, etc., the seller and buyer make an informed decision up front to disclose, and that is perfectly fine. We are not BAT.
If you are very serious about potentially buying this car or just wanting to chat about it, I would be more than happy to discuss with you, via DM, email or preferably the good old fashioned telephone (904-864-3008). I promise not to waste your time.
So...here it is....
Must see in person.
Extremely well-preserved and sorted, one owner (before me), who owned it for almost 37 years, in Kentucky. He was 83 years old when I bought it from him, and genuinely one of the nicest, most fastidious car people I have ever met. He absolutely cherished this e28 and treated it like a baby. It was kept in his garage every day of its life, unless he was out on the interstate driving to clients he had around the southeast, and always maintained by an old school German mechanic. If there were anything that ever needed attention, it was replaced with factory BMW parts.
- Always garage kept.
- No accidents.
- all original and labeled body panels
- Aftermarket wheels (Elbrus) that the PO put on when the Michelin TRXes on the factory metric wheels declined...he refused to pay $200+ (then) per tire, so he did the sensible thing and just replaced the wheels with "normal size" to allow fitment of normal tires. But, fear not, as you will see later in this book, I have the perfect condition, original metric wheels and worn out Michelin Metrics...which actually are not that worn out; they are just may pops (they may pop, they may not).
- No rust,
- All fluids/filters (everyone of them) drained and refilled,
- Runs/drives perfectly,
- Always maintained by a “German mechanic,”
- Beautiful original paint,
- No accidents,
- Recent valve job,
- Valve cover gasket,
- Hood insulators
- Holy Grail Labs fuse block,
- New clutch master
- New clutch slave
- Transmission is tight, with all synchronizers perfect....shifts beautifully
- All new brakes: rotors, pads, calipers,
- SS brake lines
- Coolant hoses,
- All vacuum lines,
- Cap and rotor,
- Spark plugs,
- Crankshaft position and speed sensors replaced,
- New internal and external fuel pumps,
- OBC removed (but still have) in lieu of a magnetic phone holder (see dash picture) that matches the grain and look of dash perfectly
- Fuel filter,
- New tires,
- Mass Airflow sensor cleaned
- ICV cleaned
- Original Factory radio, ID cards and all manuals....the radio lights up, but only works "sometimes"...
156,000 miles, and looks, drives and smells like it has about 45,000 miles
- Interior is just about perfect,
- No lights on dash
- Trunk area is perfect (one extremely small area (less than a quarter inch long)..but not rusted... where rubbing has occurred on the interior drip rail edge of left hand side of trunk where PO had installed a CB radio antenna)...
- Dash is perfect,
- All door seals look factory fresh
- Sunroof works perfectly
- Tool kit is perfect
- Jack looks like it never has been removed
- Spare tire looks like it never has been removed
- the original factory metric wheels that are perfect with even a set of metric Michelins (do not drive on them!)
- An extra windshield
- Cool things like the original factory wind deflector (which I removed)
- Many other parts from my past e28 collection.
I am happy to show it you, have you test drive it, etc., but, please for both our sakes, only if you are truly interested.
Again, feel absolutely free to call me: 904-864-3008. Andy Haynes
I look forward to talking with any of you.
And, thank you for the consideration!
