Plate light mounts
Plate light mounts
I had some paint work done on the back of my car. I had to take the plate lights out and 2 of the mounts came apart upon removal. My car (an 88) had 4 little plastic slide in tabs that the screw went into. I tried to find new ones and all I could find are metal U clips. And they are not in stock anywhere affordable. Did E28's come with those or the plastic tabs?

Well yeah, when you find the correct part number then they are easy to find.
Not sure how I missed that.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Plate light mounts
I believe my car (1986 M535i) uses the metal clips. Did they switch to these plastic mounts later in production?

My 83' 518i came with the metal clips and my 87' 525i use the plastic tabs. Both can be used in any year of production (same rear frame in the car) but the 83' was very rusty in the mounting place due to that metal clip....so replaced with the later sliding plastic tabs. I think plastic is better option to avoid the rust.
