E28 sport seats vs e24 sport seats

Thinking of swapping out my E28 sport seats, which are in abysmal condition for E24 sports seats. Apparently they’ve bolt right in with only slight modification needed with regards to the seat belts. I read on a previous thread that the E24 seats are slightly smaller, however when I measured them, they appeared to be the exact same size. I also read that the E24 seats sit lower than E28. Can anyone confirm this? If I don’t use the E24 seats that I have, I’m looking to trade them for a comparable set of E28 seats.

E28/E24 sport seats are completely interchangeable. Same seats, same brackets. The only difference is the side release tabs on the outside of each seat to fold them forward and allow access to the rear seats.

E30 seats will be easier and cheaper to find, and you will save about 90 lbs (45 lbs each). All you need a adaptor plates from https://www.massivebrakes.com/

I spent about 6 months searching for E24 seats and had to give up. E30 seats are skinnier, but not by that much.

Another difference e28 sports have vertical stitching while e24’s have horizontal. Additionally the 24’s I’d be installing in the 5 series are slightly darker than natur, so the back seats won’t quite match color or stitching. Other than those differences I wanted to confirm size and fitment. Thanks for clarifying. Thanks for the offer on the brackets for e30 seats but I’m guessing all the power functions won’t be compatible?

E30 seats are not powered, they are manually adjusted. Why do you want e24 seats for your e28?

I have a set of E30 seats in my E28 with Lee's brackets too... but mine are reversed... could not get them to sit properly... love them... but then again, I am an E30 guy and are used to them....  in my E24, I did not have sports seats, had the regular seats... much prefer the sports.

Ended up installing the E 24 seats. They sat a little lower so my guy fabricated a spacer. The car goes a lot faster now.
