Do i need a B&B catback exhaust system?

Post by Young_pnr »

I've got this annoying scraping kind of hiss coming from the back wheels (can you tell i hate strange noises?) when i brake, the pads needed replacing, i did that but still have the same sound..i also have new rotors... is it safe to say its the calipers? i'm pretty sure they have never been changed although i'm not sure. I'm also not sure how a caliper 'goes bad'

Many Thanks

A brake caliper can seize, which would make the pads drag on the rotor.
Another possibility is the brake backing plate is bent a little so it's contacting the rotor.
It's hard to say what's causing the noise from a distance.  Jack up the rear end and move each wheel by hand to see if you can isolate the sound.

I'd turn up the stereo before I bought a new catback system. :brick:

Are you sure that's where it's coming from? It can be hard to tell. Could the driveshaft be rubbing on something? FWIW on the wheel bearing, I had one go and it was silent. Had no idea until I jacked it up one day, I dunno, rotate tires or something and found I had a bunch of play at the RR wheel, like a quarter inch, at the wheel, not the bearing. Not that all are going to be that way, but if you perceive it to be both, I doubt it's wheel bearings.
