e30 4hp22 in an e28?
e30 4hp22 in an e28?
Hi everyone, I happened to find an e30 4hp22 for my 528e, and I was wondering if it's a straight bolt on affair or if there are some parts that must be interchanged in order for it to function correctly.

Not an M20 expert, but I know a little bit.
For starters is it from a 325e or 325i? they probably shift differently given different torque/HP curves. Might still be ok though and since it's not an electronic tranny adjusting the cable should have some effect. I'd check and see if the output flange is the same. An easy, non invasive change. Realoem.com might be of some help, but given the tiny sometimes changes from year to year don't expect the basic tranny to appear to be the same. It might help to ID external bolt on parts though.

If the output flange is the same then you should be fine. If an output flange swap is necessary, you will need to verify the output shaft splines. There are at least 2-3 variants if I recall correctly.
