ABS pulse generator connector help

The ABS connector on the wiring loom inside the engine bay is partially gone, as in dried out plastic cracked off gone.

I've replaced the pulse generator female connector with 1/2 of a 2 pin weatherproof connector. This was easy enough as the pulse generator has a red and black wires leading to the connector.

My question is the wiring loom connector has 2 red wires, not black and red wires. The OEM connectors only fit in a certain orientation (design of the connectors) but I now have no idea how to how to orient the other 1/2 of the weatherproof connector before I solder the leads together. 

Any ideas how?

does it actually matter?  I'm not sure that ABS pickups are polarity sensitive.  If there is no color stripe or anything at all on the harness-side wiring to indicate a difference it seems to me maybe BMW didn't think it was overly critical either.
