Parts compatibility between tachometers

Post by teh »

Hi everyone,

I have been looking for a tach that has a rev counter for my 525e for an awhile now. I have found a unit finally but it turned out it has a bad board (battery leak).

I was trying to fix it and broke the small pin that holds the needle for the speedo .... 😫

I know a lot of parts are not really interchangeable between the different iterations of the tachs. The unit with the rev counter that I want to use has 9 lights, the one in my car has 7. Is there any way I can use the speedo/odometer from the unit in my car and swap it into the other unit?

Thank you!

You should probably contact Ivo Christof in The Netherlands. He is an expert on these clusters. It depends, but my e28M5 uses a "code chip" plugged in the back of the cluster. Mine failed and the tach would not work. I got a new code chip from Lithuania via EBAY.

Good luck with your challenge.
