CD 43 Pinout for power antenna

Post by DavidE9 »

Hello,
I have the pin out diagram for a BMW CD-43 head unit, but Im not sure what is used for the factory power antenna:

https://www.bimmernut.com/forum/showthr ... ng-diagram

Im thinking its 15 (ground) and 16 (power). The problem is that I don't know how power antennas work. Does the correct positive lead send a continuous signal to the antenna to raise it, or is there some sort of switching mechanism happening where the power lead only sends temporary power to raise it and then the power shuts off ?

Thanks in advance.

Sound like the voltage is always on to keep the antenna raised. And then cutting the power lowers it. Must be some circuit in there to do all that.

All the electric antennas I have have 3 wires, "constant" positive, ground, and the "remote wire". The remote wire has positive while the head unit is on, and it indicates to the antenna to deploy.
That same remote wire is used by the amplifier to "turn on" as well.
