I'd like to ask the community for tips on installing a dashcam. Has anyone done it, what has worked, what do you wish you knew before starting? The Search function tells me that Charlie Kindel installed one on his Maytag build, but not much more. I already have the camera (it's the kind that has both front- and back-facing units for mounting on the front and the rear windscreens), just need the time and the impulse to install it...
I wonder if it can be hooked up to the sunroof power (closest "switched off" power source). And for the rear camera- I hate to see exposed wiring, but the thought of messing with the headliner (which is original and in great shape) is even more daunting.
Your thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

Tips for installing Dashcam on an E28
Re: Tips for installing Dashcam on an E28
I’ll post more when I get a chance. I ran the wire for the rear camera along the door sills under the carpet. I removed the rear seats to make it easy to fish the wire up by the third brake light and mounted the rearview camera using double-sided tape to the top of the rear brake light.
I don’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure that I ran power up the a pillar after removing the pillar trim. I also have my Valentine one wire run up that way.

Check the expected current draw of the camera against the wire gauges in the ETM first, but the sunroof power wire should work as would a couple wires from the check panel harness:
(88 535 for reference)
Check panel Red/White (always hot)
Check panel Violet/Black (ACC+)
Check panel Brown (GND)
Running wires from the mirror area down the A pillar is also pretty straightforward. You don't need to mess with the headliner to do it, just kind of tuck them behind it as you go. There is a C302 accessory connector under the dash that has a few connectors that you could connect to directly for power that are unused if your car does not have SLS or heated seats:
