Not So Shameless St. Paddy’s Day T-shirt Appeal

Post by MLastovo »

Hello Folks,
As the title alludes this is a targeted appeal for some St. Paddy’s Day t-shirt sales.

Many of you know the Gathering is pretty much self-funded but is generously supported by day-of donations and the help of others. This year’s stand outs are Gary Collins for donating copious amounts of top shelf meat, Carl of LJI who always is there and Rich Ford who, behind the scenes, kicked off the t-shirt effort by offering to put up the money…

The first item of note is that the t-shirt sales is not done as a way to make money for the event. It is, and I hope it will continue, its own thing. With that, the cost of the shirts covers the artwork development, shirt cost and printing. Nothing else. Yes, there is a little fudge with, I think, 4 free shirts mixed in; one for me, one for Vince, one for Jeff and one for Rich, but, Rich declined and paid for his. We were not happy with the end cost of the shirts but nothing is cheap today and IFF you really need to see the numbers, trust me, Mr. Spreadsheet AKA Vince 101, has ‘em.

We looked at historical sales (remember Mr. Spreadsheet…?) and 70-80 was the rough number(s). From there I went to the vendor and he stated that there is/was a price break at 72 shirts so I went with that number for the estimate generation which led us to the final cost of the shirts to you. Currently, the projected numbers of committed buyers is well short of hitting that “sweet spot” of 72. If we don’t hit at least that number the cost of the individual shirts from the vendor goes up. If that happens, we will end up losing money on the shirts sales. Let’s make that not be reality.

So, here’s the ask, PLEASE buy some shirts!

Thanks for the ear,

Sorry, the vendor requires American currency.
But, in the interest of curiosity, what do/did you have to offer? You could have something unique…

I want to trade you screen legend Anthony Quinn's undershirt. He took this off to do sit-ups in the park and I nabbed it.

Hmmm, a garment with the lusty smell of a Mexican-American that was generally assumed to be a Greek.
I will have to think about that offer. We'll chat.
