I can’t find a crossover that those part numbers are related to the m5 chin covers although they do look the same.

It's what I have on my euro M5 lip and there aren't any problems. Maybe the part number was superceded?

Ben - I recently tracked the OE gray cover  944 (new) and a OE black cover 943 from Ebay.  Many R side available - no one has the L - driver's side.
Good luck! btw have a rear chrome bumper too.
