Replacing the glass of the side view mirror

Hi guys.
I tried replacing the glass of yue driver side view mirror but was not successful. I read in some forum that you do this by poking a screw driver under the frame but when i did, it didnt engage to anything. Any clues ? Couldnt find a thread either.

There is a sort of cam or bayonet lock that holds the glass to the mechanism a little like a camera lens. I'm sure if you search a little you'll find some pictures of this.

You can see it if you tip the bottom of the mirror out. You use a small screwdriver to rotate the locking ring which has some little teeth on it like old fashioned drum brake adjusters.

It is easy and as described, but a caution. I've replaced several and always seen to break the locking tab. The new glass goes in, locks in place by turning the ring but doesn't quite lock to prevent turning. More than once I've looked over to see the mirror hanging by the wires to the mirror heater. If you don't feel it kind of click after rotating the ring, and or if you find it hanging by the wires, you can put just a dab of glue on it where it should be locking. I don't glue the whole thing in, just a little dab of something like Goop. I haven't had to remove one I have done that to, but I suspect I would be able to.
