M30B32 cylinder head - rear water pipe..

Post by db9 »

84 533i (02/84 build)
Cylinder head rear water pipe - putting item back together and the water pipe is perforated due to corrosion - I look around but see listing suggested it's back ordered
realoem part 11121253208 and they refer to it as a "cover" .
Will check the local sources for a pick and pull but failing that suggestions from another motor that would do the trick?

Anyone else had this happen, and just as a word the thermostat housing inlets were the same - corroded to perforation

Not unusual at all. Post a WTB in the parts subforum.

JB weld the perforations? It may hold for a while. What about cutting the end part off and using the rest? I'd double clamp the hose.

Thanks all,
I'd thought about JB weld, my concern might be the "fix" coming lose and drifting around the system and lodging who knows were..

I wouldn't worry about that, it'll just settle out in the bottom of the radiator or the water jacketing of the block if it does come loose. I'd worry more about it coming loose, leaking and being in a nearly impossible place to replace.

hey there. Sorry to resurrect an old post. but I'm at a bit of a loss. i have a 1986 stock 528e that i'm getting back together and while i don't have the same problem with that inlet connector on the back of the cylinder head, i don't know exactly what connects to it. ECS tuning refers to the inlet connecter as ECS Part #ES#17933, called cylinder head connector. But for the life of me, i can't find anything that says what hose connects to it and where that hose is supposed to connect to? reaching out on the off-chance that you might know.

Hopefully you may have figured it out - it goes to the water valve..
