Custom Motronic chip tuning option for M20/M30 - SSSQUID

Post by SlickDizzy »

Not affiliated, but until I poked around on R3V I was only aware of the D'Sylva, Conforti and Dinan options so I figured I'd share with the group here.

I've been weighing where I want to go next with my M30B35 build and software is definitely on the list. While my main dilemma is chip tune vs MAF vs Megasquirt (which is its own debate that has been had 100 thousand times and does not warrant its own thread), in my research into chips I discovered SSSQUID who seems to be very renowned among E30 guys.

The main benefit over a D'Sylva or Conforti chip is that you can specify your injectors, minimum fuel octane, desired rev limit, modifications, and tune aggressiveness to receive a tune specifically tailored to your setup for a pretty reasonable $250 base price. His feedback on R3Vlimited is fantastic (username: squidmaster) so I'm thinking I may go this route and see how I like it before committing to a full MS setup. (Definitely not buying any Miller products due to the consistently poor customer service noted on this board.)

+1 for SSSQuid chips. We run them on our M20 E30 race car, they work great.

I didn't even know of sssquid, and I live in Denver.
Contacted them about options for my son's e28 and they replied immediately. I was impressed.

Also of note - they are developing a proper MAF conversion kit...
