The initial fun of big HP/Torque is eventually overcome by the realization of low-quality engineering by accountants. I've rented Mustangs on vacation trips, but the thrill is always gone before the trip is over. Nice coming home to my Italian, German, and Japanese cars (in no particular order).

So have I and never would consider owning one. Take a sixth generation GT for a test drive. Its a different animal even in stock form. I have since lowered mine and tightened up the IRS.

How many cars have you driven with a built in 1/4 timer with tree, front brake line lock, launch control, g force meters and various acceleration and braking timers? Then there are the drive modes that include normal, Sport+ and Track. Defiantly different characteristics for each mode.

I had brand new 85 mustang once. It was a piece of cow dung. I doubt if that has changed except maybe that you can now go much faster in a straight line than in 85. In 85, my mustang couldn't even do a straight line well.

This thing went around corners better than a super-heavy, monstrously-powered, stick-axle car should.
https://vimeo.com/99169237 I didn't drive it on the track, just the street, but got a ride on the track. As Jack notes in the comments, the stock pads and tires weren't really up to the task.

However on the new GT350, the brakes are apparently fade-free, and the street rubber on the GT350R is reportedly as grippy as a Hoosier R6 (fun fact: they don't ship the R cars between October and April because the sticky tires can crack if temps are below freezing). Throw in a very good independent suspension with MagneRide dampers and it's no longer a muscle car, but a genuine sports car. Randy Pobst can get a GT350R around Laguna Seca 0.2 seconds slower than a 991 GT3 that costs more than 2x as much.

Your experience is over 30 years old and invalid. I drove a 2016 an hour ago. Come on back after you have test drove a 2016 GT with 435HP.

OK, I'll have to admit that. I forget what I paid for my 85 but I think it was less than ten grand. What's the 2016 GT cost?

Mine is loaded with just about all boxes checked. I got a deal from a friend well under MSRP and it was ~$42K with TT&L.

Spotted this on our way back from Italy yesterday; the Swiss like their fürrin sports cars too.



But I didn't realize there was a GT 850 Super Snake. Is that legit?
The emblem by the snake says "GT500" but down below "GT 850". I'm so confused.



We also saw a Mustang in the wild in Schweiss too, but I wasn't quick enough to catch a photo of it. That makes a total of two Mustangs I've seen over here, and neither of them in Deutschland. Not that I doubt the original premise of this thread, but...

There aren't a whole lot of cars I'd like to own outside pre-95 BMWs, but I would totally rock out a top of the normal range Mustang. They are pretty awesome. I was glad to see Ford weather the storm so well during the downturn when GM and Chrysler were getting bailed out.
