Drinking Habits

Post by oldskool »

Home alone tonight and thought I'd pour a drink or four. No big deal, as there is some leftover Margaritas in the fridge from Monday night. Even named one of my daughters Margarita, but that's not important right now. What's important is you people and your drinking habits.

Pics of Margarita or it never happened.

Also, I think I had a drink (on accident) ONCE. But that deployment to Germany... Man was I tempted. Jaeger and Red Bull smells like CANDY!

More drinks for you guys, I guess!

Your choices don't fit my drinking patterns. I drank hard liquor neat for 30 yrs. Then My little brother gave me a scotch on the rocks and it just slid down my throat so easily, that I only devote a weekend a yr to the task.. Drink makes me carefree and witty. I am more trouble stone cold sober than I am drunk. I attribute this to a youth mis spent doing recreational drugs a couple yrs before I ever started drinking. It was 'heads" and "beeries"in High School. I was 19 before I acquired a taste for beer. Hard stuff came a little later. Staggering drunk, isn't anything compared to freaking on acid.

I drink almost daily and I'm ok with it despite anyone's judgements. 90% of the time it's a glass or two of red wine, other times a beer or three (but beer makes me feel bloated), and once in a long while bourbon or a margarita.

I rarely get silly or out of control because the morning recovery is just too rough with little kids that wake up at 6:45!

An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.

A life without red wine is indeed a life most ordinary. I mostly quit drinking the harder stuff a few years ago, with the exception of an occasional tonic related libation in the Summer to combat mosquito borne illness. Food without wine....well, it's just lunch!

I drink beer with you guys mostly, maybe one or two after work on hot summer days. Haven't had a beer since October when TimK and I did a bit of it.

I like my Scotch in the evenings on cold winter days while I sit and contemplate the meaning (or lack of) of life and other deep subjects.

I'm with M-racer, red wine is what makes a good meal great. it turns spaghetti into a delicacy.

Never been into drugs, coffee (lot's of it) is my drug of choice!

I simply cannot function in my mime troupe without a few strong belts of Irish whiskey. There. I said it.

I've drank less than a dozen times since Jan. 2015. Before that, for a few years I was a heavy bourbon drinker over a gallon a week. In Kentucky that stuff is almost a way of life for a lot of people. I'm going to tip a few back tonight, it's the weekend.

I will always remember your "Rehab is for Quitters" T shirt at the Vintage. Remember laughing until beer came out my nose.

You see thats the trouble with booze. Its fun, but it takes up too much time in the new millennium. It limits your mobility unless you have a minder or 2. Red wine is great with pasta and good for you a glass at a time. We will have a .750 bottle between 4 people. There is still some beer (sic) in the fridge Aaron left here. 10.2 % ABV is too fricken hard on my head come the morning. People consume a lot less these days and many don't drink at all. It was one of the main inducements to give up nomadic hunting and gathering and raising grain instead.

I'm a grandfather now and need my license to work. I still drink in my house. but I don't if I have to drive. Never was a bar type. It is a vice I have managed to control very well. Doesn't change the fact I enjoy the buzz if administered properly.

Yeah I gave up alcohol almost a year and a half ago. I'm with you now. :)

The accidential drink almost happened to me too.

Btw I dropped another 15lbs when I stopped. Although I was consuming the high test craft beer, the alcohol was also stinting my metabolism.

Beer. Mainly beer. But also Islay Single Malt Scotch. Pretty much the only thing I like. And vodka martinis with 3 blue cheese stuffed olives. Frequently. Margaritas are good too. So is that Dutch crap Ivo bought me two bottles of. And I like beer. And scotch. And mixed drinks that are dark and stormy. I'll drink red wine as long as its red. A lot of it. Chartreuse is a treat. Gin annoys me. Not sure why. I like getting other people drunk on Fireball.
