Where the heck is El Nino?
As I sit here, nearly 11pm, it is 71 degrees, 17% relative humidity. Today was 86 degrees, the next five days it will be 86-88, the following four days 82-84. We need the water!

He got deported.
Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
Where is Kevin Costner when you need him most?
Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
Rained like heck here in FL last week and we are in the dry season. Was 85 degrees a few days ago and now back to the seasonal 60's. I suspect he was here and has left for other parts.

Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
I think he is/was up in this neck of the woods most of the winter. It rained repeatedly in January, which I think is unconstitutional! He may have gone someplace else last week as it has actually snowed.
Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
Yep, it was over 80 up here yesterday, one of my outside thermometers said 86. Wrong for February, just wrong. The yard is still pretty muddy but it'll dry out quick at this rate. We need the ground to stay saturated so if it does rain it runs off into the reservoirs not just soaks into the ground. Oh well, the new normal?

I hate that term but yes, I think it is the new normal.Mike W. wrote:Oh well, the new normal?

If your weather is anything like ours right now your ground should already be dry. Being at less than 15% humidity during the day with 20-30 mph Santa Anas is drying everything out.Mike W. wrote:Yep, it was over 80 up here yesterday, one of my outside thermometers said 86. Cars are getting dusty again
Its rained this winter but only a couple times anything steady. Things are green, love this time of year in LA.

Here's hoping that the plant north of San Diego is a success.

On a more relevant topic... Where is the snow?
Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
I just saw El Niño at Costco.

News flash, California.
Weather changes. Even for you. It doesn't mean anything is wrong.
Drought? Gee, hasn't California's population continued to grow? Those new people are thirsty, too.
Why don't we get those chemtrails people on the phone and see if they can offer a solution.
Let's re-visit this when it SNOWS in Slicktop City, mmmkay?

Over 60 in Portland today.
Been a good winter. We were not supposed to get any snow in the mountains this year and all the snow was supposed to go to the Siera's. Skiing has been awesome so far. So the great El Nino gods were wrong again.
Winter will be back for sure. Rain for the next 10 days is predicted.

It's 84 degrees out there and the kids that moved in next door over the weekend have been in and out of the swimming pool (which has got to just be freezing) all day. Middle of February.
There's talk of rain on Wednesday. We'll see.

It's not officially on-line but it's been producing for about a month.demetk wrote:Here's hoping that the plant north of San Diego is a success.
Something people might not think about is that the desal plant needs to be near the ocean but you still have to get that yummy water from the ocean to the consumer. In this case, a 54" pipeline and tunnels had to be built ten miles inland.

So it could tie into the existing aqueduct system. We've had a few bugs in the pipeline but the contractor should have the last of them sorted out this week.

And I thought it was supposed to start cooling down TODAY.Mike W. wrote: There's talk of rain on Wednesday. We'll see.

Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
Well they were predicting a storm and we got it. After virtually nothing in February we got 3.5" today. And if you believe Weather Underground we'll see another 6" in the next week. We'll see.
Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
I hope this "Pineapple Express" thing doesn't last long! Last time I was in San Diego it was during January and it was raining most of the time I was there. Well I'll stay optimistic and come dressed for sunshine and 65 degrees.

It's raining here but nothing spectacular.

Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
I guess the storm missed us here. Other than a little drizzle this morning, it's been sunny.

Re: Where the heck is El Nino?
We received some good rain this morning. We're scheduled for more rain tomorrow morning. Supposed to be pretty heavy for a few hours.
