That is a really clean installation especially with a liquid/air intercooler. Bravo.
Yes, details please.

Sorry for the late reply guys,

Ok.....so I bought this a few years back bout 7 0r 8 years ago. The work was completed by a performance BMW shop here in Sydney (2 previous owners ago). I couldn't get info on it regarding internals etc...until I blew the head gasket a few years ago. Upon pulling the head off I had discovered it has an 86mm stroke (I assume its a stock crank, conrods I am unsure of, as I haven't pulled apart the bottom end), bored out to 94mm with forged flattop pistons, (I'm guessing the c/r would be about 9 - 9.5 to 1) head was completely stock, so I changed the cam to a custom made one (for forced induction application) - It used to run out of steam at about 5 - 5.5k RPM, with the cam it pulls strongly to 6.5 - 7.

Supercharger is an Eaton M90 (gen III i believe) they come off GM cars with V6s not sure what in the US but in australia they are off Holden Commodores.
Running 10psi of boost, 6 ribbed belt. The bracket is bolted on top of the engine mount and oil filter. The clutch fan was changed to 2 electric ones (one either side of radiator) to make room for everything. It is a VERY tight fit under there.

It runs a water to air intercooler, which the radiator for sits in front of the regular radiator. Water washer bottle has been removed and replaced with coolant tank for intercooler. And obviously this setup is supercharger before throttle body.

It runs bigger injectors (not sure what though) and an EMS stinger for engine management.

I was given dyno sheets when I bought it which stated 202kw and 385nm at the wheels, i have never had it on the dyno. Peak torque was at like 2000rpms or something quite low (this is off memory as ive lost the dyno sheets)

I appreciate the interest guys, ive gotten so much info off this forum, happy to share what i have!

Thats 274rhwp and 283rwtq for us Americans.

I'd be curious on how this thing drives since I've only driven N/A and turbo M30's. Does it have a lot of low end grunt like I'd expect a roots blown car to have?

Yeah theres definately heaps of low end grunt, similar to that of a large displacement V8, but of course it doesnt feel like a v8.... it still has that lovely free revving nature of a BMW 6. I've never driven turboed M30's before but I have driven other performance turboed cars like toyota supras, nissan 200sx, skylines etc, etc,.. The difference is the way the power is delivered where the turbo cars have a gradual build up of power and blown cars have the power immediately off idle. If you've ever driven a Mercedes Kompressor you know the feeling. Bottom end is stronger with s/c, top end is stronger with turbo. In saying that I believe turbo makes significantly more power for the same level of boost. Personally, I just love the way superchargers feel when driven, I just love that FAT torque curve. This thing is sideways at any given moment, any rpm, 1st or 2nd gear. I just drop my right foot and opposite lock away. Puts a smile on my face every time!

Welcome. A buddy of mine had a supercharged e34 535i, although that was a different looking setup with a centrifugal compressor so it's interesting to see a twin screw jammed in there. How's the charger mounted? Always nice to have another local on board, and nicer to have one with something unique.

Oh I know all to well, my 745i is a factory turbo (with factory turbo lag!) and I have a Ford product with 281ci dohc and a eaton M112. A M30 powered BMW with instant off idle torque is an interesting concept, its to bad its not an avenue more people explore.

Always good to see another Aussie Das! Heres a couple more pics of the engine with a few bits removed, there the best ones I have, I should have taken more pics whilst I had the thing apart but Anyway..........

ok i'll try to describe it the best I can....

the supercharger is mounted sideways with the exiting side of the supercharger facing the left side where the battery usually is (battery has been relocated to the boot by the way)

There are 2 brackets, 1 for the supercharger itself and the other is for the belt tensioner. The bracket that holds the supercharger itself is the one next to the intake manifold, this one is bolted to the engine at 4 spots, 2 at the engine mount where it bolts to the block, 1 where the oil filter cannister is bolted to the block, and lastly on the intake manifold itself. The supercharger is bolted to this bracket in 3 spots, 1 through the snout of the supercharger (this also holds the other bracket) and 2 at the rear of the supercharger, 1 at the top (you can see this in the 1st pic) and another at the bottom.

The bracket for the belt tensioner is the one that loops over the snout of the supercharger. This is bolted to the block where the altenator bracket is and also bolted to the snout of the supercharger.

Hope that helps Das!

PS.......... Its a roots style blower not a twin screw!

offroadkarter, after having this thing apart I realised what a monumentous job this must have been to get a s/c working properly on this. This would have cost a fortune to get done. I wouldn't of dreamed of attempting such a project in a hundred years! I guess this is why you don't see many supercharged m30's. Even going through mye28 I've stumbled across a couple of failed attempts. But I'm glad somebody did otherwise I wouldn't be with this bad boy!!! :D  :)

Man, I've been gathering parts to so this on the e34 for a while now.

I love it! Exactly how I was thinking to do it. Fantastic!
