FS: E28 M5 parts

Post by DesktopDave »

Sorry that my first post is a for sale thread, but I had some good parts and figured someone here could use them. I usually hang out with the E24 guys, but it never hurts to ask other BMW guys.

I have an OEM M5 exhaust and front calipers/rotors/pads for sale. Sorry about the pictures, but if you need some closeups please PM me and I'll see what I can do. I'd figure shipping would be pretty expensive on these parts. I've heard that Greyhound's freight rates are low. I'm up for any suggestions, local pickup is welcome, I'll accept Paypal. Onto the parts!

The exhaust is in good solid shape except for the polished exhaust tips. It also looks like a bracket had been welded onto the center section, perhaps to suit the E24? I'm not sure. I've uploaded some pics here.

I pulled the front brakes from the car as well. They look to be in fine shape, but I've never driven the car so I can't make any promises on condition. They did work well enough to stop the car at the bottom of my driveway, and didn't seize up. The driver's side was a struggle to remove, possibly due to the surface rust on the rotors, possibly due to a stuck piston. :? They don't look pretty but they seem OK. Here's a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

The entire S38 engine is also available, but it had spun a rod bearing. I'm told that it currently resides in a machinist's shop after having been repaired, along with matching bearings. It is a complete package, including the harness, DME and exhaust header. I'm not sure if the clutch & flywheel are included though. I'd prefer to sell it as a package. If anyone is interested, I'll get you in touch with the owner to complete that transaction.

Further research tells me that the rear section is likely BMW part number 18101310530. It was made by Boysen, with (I'm assuming) manufacturing dates of 11/96 and 2/97 on the muffler & resonator. They'd have to be replacements since the M5 donor was probably an '87 IIRC. The steel is thick and of good quality; the pipes appear to be stainless steel.

I'm not sure about the middle section part number, perhaps 11761312264? Any assistance would be appreciated - I don't really know a lot about the E28. This exhaust uses the later type diamond shaped 2-bolt flanges.

Prices for these bits? Will you consider selling the muffler separately?

I have no idea what it's worth used. I'd also prefer to sell the center & rear sections together. They seem to be worth a small fortune new, if you can find them. PM me an offer.

I also have a complete hydraulic brake booster package from a Euro E24, I can add pictures if anyone is interested.

All PMs responded to, thanks for the interest!

Sorry, haven't been checking this board; the motor was sold a while back. I have a few bits & bobs left, starter, alternator, a bracket or two, but those are all common with the M30.

It amazes me that it's been three whole years...time flies!

I've uploaded a few pics of the remaining parts to my Google Drive. There's a bunch of fasteners & hose clamps, heat shield, motor mounts, a pipe or two, bellhousing sensor set, water pump, alternator, a few starters, misc. A/C compressors. Here's a link for you: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pdeoZ ... UoaLMoRKTD
