V12 and V8 to manual transmission adapter plates

Post by stuartinmn »

Maybe I'm the last person to know about this, but you can buy an adapter plate that mates a BMW V12 to a BMW six cylinder transmission: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171852402541 They also have an adapter plate for BMW V8s.

Well if you're going to ruin my fun, I might as well tell you guys.

I have these plates and will be selling them in the US. There were some tolerancing issues with the first V12 plates I brought over, but I'm working with the manufacturer to get that fixed.

Extremely cool.
Too bad I've already secured a 6spd to go with that V8.
Nah not too bad.

It's easier in general to use the V8 trans with the V8, but if you simply don't wanna, the adapter plates work well.

Be advised that they also require a custom flywheel, sold separately. I'm working on getting all the necessary parts and hardware together in a kit for swap people.

Mooseheadm5 does the m73 auto flexplate fit inside the adapter? Could you piggyback an m50 flywheel on top of it with a spacer and longer bolts so you could use the m73 starter? Or is it a different bolt circle.

V8 and V12 have the same bolt pattern, the other motors are different. I'll send you some pics that aren't ready to be released into the wild yet if you PM me an email address.

It would be cool to have an adaptor plate for the getrag 6spd to the m30/m88. I have a 6apd at home.

That, my friend, is a much more rare problem to have.

Yes it seems so.

I was loitering in the samsonas site some time ago and they have an interesting adaptor plate that transfers a modern 6cyl gearbox to s14 so it may work on m30/m88. There is not much room in the trans tunnel even with the getrag dogleg so adapting the 6spd may need trans tunnel surgery.
