524 TD IP into 525 tds

Post by Marki »

Hello,

I see a lot of wise guys in this forum, so i want ask you.
I have a problem with my E34 tds IP (m51b25) so i decide replace it whit mechanical IP from m21b24. I read topic about mechanical pump timing adjusment and found that, timing (not static) in this pums controled by valve .

So,

1. if that valve nescecary to conect?

2. What timing angle (static) will be good for M51b25 engine?

P.S sorry for my english

No need to apologize, your english is very good. I expect that if you put the m21 pump on your engine, you'll see a drop in miles per gallon. I'm pretty sure that the advance solenoid on the m21 pump is only used during warmup. A good place to start is to set the static timing to the euro specification and advance from there, if needed.

Marki,

I"m interested in your conversion in that I would like to fit an m21 into an e34. i am aware the early e34 diesel was a m21 then a change over to the m51. if possible could you document what issues you discover making your change? Thanks Doug
