I still really don't like it, but I guess it's growing on me.....Eta power wrote:Is your hatred for the M20 melting away?slammin_e28 wrote:Fuel lines, filter, air filter, cap and rotor on the e30.
Then we blasted some backroads and the parkway. What fun!

I really wanna see how long a +320k M20 will last the way I beat on this one. Chirping tires in second 9/10 times I drive it and all...

The M5 got new Centric drilled/slotted rotors and EBC red pads (experimenting) out back over the weekend. Got a new SES light on the way to work tonight. Car ran fine though. I look forward to whatever will need replacing next.
Cindy is fussing that I need to show the truck and the Z some love. That would be great if the M would stop being so needy. I knew that going in though, and I thought I made it clear to Cindy too.
I'll never get that ESS kit at this rate.

The other day I fixed the sunroof in the e30. Some asshole drilled into the sides of the hole and mounted the ratty roof (sealed with RTV) to that with wood screws. All that needed replacing was the cables. Dicks. Now I have a working roof, but it's delphin, on my schwarz.
Today I replaced the e30's 6 button with this:

Love it.
Still gotta do something about that pesky M20 under the hood....

Speaking of the E30, I'm bringing a NOS Zender trunk spoiler, E30 fitment, to The Vintage to be offered up for sale.
It's not mine, just helping out a friend.

I ran it in an auto-x last Saturday and it didn't blow up. Did pretty well, actually. Picked up an M5 flywheel from Paul, now I just need to order the clutch kit thru work and the M30 will be ready to roll in.1st 5er wrote:Thought you were gonna blow it up.slammin_e28 wrote:Still gotta do something about that pesky M20 under the hood....
Hmm....you know I'm a sucker for parts....1st 5er wrote:Speaking of the E30, I'm bringing a NOS Zender trunk spoiler, E30 fitment, to The Vintage to be offered up for sale.

Pics? Or is it in the FS section?
Not sure, check with said friend.slammin_e28 wrote:Hmm....you know I'm a sucker for parts....1st 5er wrote:Speaking of the E30, I'm bringing a NOS Zender trunk spoiler, E30 fitment, to The Vintage to be offered up for sale.

Pulled the steering wheel off of my daughter's Civic & replaced the turn signal/wiper stalk. Then tried to figure out where the oil leak was coming from and why the shifter is so stiff on it. Lots of corrosion on the linkage, so I think I'll have to pull it apart, clean it up & replace some bushings or something.
Then I set to cleaning up the garage... Ugh.

I washed the e34 today.

Changed the rotors on the Passat, fuel filter on the toy truck and drove the Audi 50 miles and made the stupid stuck lifter unstick itself. There were some ugly sounds on and off until it finally came smooth. Not a peep now.
The poor BMW is just sitting there wishing it had a non AFU body and a head gasket. Sadness. But at least the other 3 are better!

Finally got around to pulling the head unit out of the dash of the e32 so I could hook up the power to the antenna amplifier. Now I can get more than 5 FM stations. Best of all, I can pick up AM stations without parking a block from a transmitter!

E30, yesterday, between 6pm and 8pm:
Swapped my cracked tail lamps out for un-cracked ones.
Harvested a tool kit tray (and 3 tools) from the parts car.
Gutted the trunk looking for an aftermarket amp, there was none.
While doing the above, removed the panel behind the rear seat bulkhead and found a folder of receipts.
Installed the grey rear speaker deck with black speaker housings.
Opened up the ski pass so I can install my ski bag assembly.
Also helped my dad install a new rear window in the Dodge Dakota as I chucked a stump through it last week.

Oh right - the other bimmer's been getting work too. I swapped out the RTABs on the e46 this past weekend, and still have a "toonk" noise at low speeds from the rear when coming in and out of the driveway. Never happens on the road; it happens just after very low speed transitional movements when the car returns to level. Floor at the subframe is solid, swaybar mounts are not torn, swaybar links are new, springs are intact (PSS10 - took them out this weekend to inspect the height adjusters, which are also fine), shock mounts are intact (Rogue RSMs). Frustrating noise......
I've got diffy mounts, new salad tongs (rear lower control arms) and inner and outer bushings for the LCAs to go on next. Not this weekend, or next....diffy has to drop, PITA job.....

^^^ cool
Last Saturday I cleaned and waxed the Subaru Forester, changed plugs had Midas install cat-back and muffler then passed VA safety inspection.
Reinstalled the bumper cover on the Honda Civic hybrid. Wifey pulled it off attempting to back off the concrete curb stop she drove over at the Post Office.

I must say, I did enjoy the building of it. Many a swear words were concocted though, I say that, as I ran out of the standard ones and had to make up my own.1st 5er wrote:Looks like a lot of love there...![]()
You're welcome.
Thanks for the moola!
Wish I'd taken pics along the way though, oh well, maybe next time. I've got four M20 blocks in various states of tear down waiting to have something done.
Then there's this:

(See sig...)

That is why I tear them down. I am trying to single handedly dismantle every one.rmiddendorf wrote:I thought you hated the M20?slammin_e28 wrote:I've got four M20 blocks in various states of tear down waiting to have something done.
Main reason is I have eta blocks and "I" heads with super eta pistons. I don't do it by choice, but because I need $$.
I also have two M30s, one dissassembled, one together, that are waiting for me to personally fund and make a nice turbo motor from one, and a nice high comp 3.6 from the other.
I have too much stuff.
Counted my block/engines yesterday:
5 M20
2 M30
1 M60
....and those aren't in cars.
Also have a myriad of M30 heads, probably around 6 to 7 by now. Same with piston sets and intake manis.
If you were looking for a good reason to hate the m20, having 4 of them in pieces in your garage is a good one. Ask me how I knowrmiddendorf wrote:I thought you hated the M20?slammin_e28 wrote:I've got four M20 blocks in various states of tear down waiting to have something done.

I've only got two right now, but the sickness is spreading, I'm sort of half looking for another one.
