You realize its only one little screw to access that seat motor and it can easily be done (as pictured) without removing the seat? You know, not a Herculean job worthy of acting out over it.

No, I didn't. I thought you had to remove the seat. If you would have told me nicely maybe I'd have reconsidered.

Salvage yard can't pick up until Sunday morning, so the car gets a short reprieve. Julie won't be happy, but for the $70 they're giving me it's totally worth it.

I'm probably going to regret this. There's only 3 or 4 things I really want off it. My goal is to have it gone before Julie comes home next Thursday. If you see something on it you really want let me know.

I want both RH doors and the bootlid but there's no way I'd make it there before Thurs. Shit shit shit.

Well that was quite a day. 2/3rds of the population of Oregon drove up and pretty much dismantled the rest of the car.

AJ (etapower) made the trip in his 528e. Scott (mescko) and his nephew Eric came up in an F250.

We started by pulling the diff for AJ. While AJ & I got to work on dropping the transmission (so I could abscond with the M20 bottom-end) Scott & Eric tore into the front end; they came mostly for body parts.

One less 4hp22 in the world.

I have decided I'm going to build a new M20 motor. Hell, why not? This M20B27 bottom-end should serve as a nice base.

Ain't much left...

Pick-in-Pull is supposed to pick it up between 8-12 tomorrow....

Buh-bai!

Overall that was a fun little adventure. From a funds perspective I am probably close to breaking even considering the $250 I paid for the car and the cost of the transport to my house. I got $70 from Pick-in-Pull to pick it up. So far about 10 E28 owners have benefited from parts. I made some new friends and got to see @etapower who's a great guy. I learned a ton about parts of these cars I hadn't dug into before too.

I'm hoping the engine is re-buildable.... pulling the auto-tranny and engine was not really much fun and that was really not needed if the engine is trashed. I've started a thread on it here: http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=131610

It was great meeting you and AJ, and a great way to get my feet wet with yet another marque (my first German, I've had British, Japanese, American and French). The
bonnet--sorry, hood is for when I get one repainted so I have one to run with, and the bootlid is for CMA if I eff up mine drilling holes for the spoiler. After both of these things have been accomplished, they will be available to anyone (gratis, in the spirit of how they were given to me, mit beer

) who might need them in the future. And it was a treat to go for a spin in Vlad with a great lunch and a Scottish ale at the end. Thanks again, Charlie.
