I would substitute dealer mechanic for real mechanic. Dealer mechanics have all the specialty tools. Real mechanics don't, and don't change many pilot bearings either. You get good at it if you're doing it 3 times and day and buy the tools for it. If it's once or twice a year, less so. I've got a contraption I made that acts like a press, put it together, stick a screwdriver into it to lock the bolt in and crank away. Bread actually sounds easier.

This is the only way I'll do pilot bearings now. It works so well.....at least so far.
